Why Choose Laser Cutting

Advantages of fiber laser technology over traditional cutting methods

Extreme Precision

Tolerances as tight as +/-0.005" allow for complex geometries and intricate details that are impossible with plasma or mechanical cutting methods.

Clean Edge Quality

Laser cutting produces smooth, burr-free edges that often require no secondary finishing. This saves time and money on post-processing operations.

Fast Production Speed

Fiber lasers cut at speeds measured in feet per minute, dramatically reducing production time. Rush orders and tight deadlines are no problem for our operation.

Complex Geometries

From simple circles to intricate organic shapes, laser cutting handles any profile without the need for custom tooling. Design freedom is virtually unlimited.

Minimal Heat Distortion

The focused laser beam creates a very narrow heat-affected zone, preventing warping and maintaining material integrity -- critical for precision parts.

Material Efficiency

Advanced nesting software maximizes sheet utilization, minimizing waste. The narrow kerf width (cut line) means more parts per sheet compared to other methods.

Laser Cutting FAQ

Common questions about our laser cutting metal services

What file formats do you accept for laser cutting?
We accept DXF, DWG, AI (Adobe Illustrator), EPS, SVG, and PDF files. DXF is our preferred format as it translates most accurately to our CNC programming software. If you only have a sketch or image, our team can convert it into a laser-ready vector file for an additional design fee. All files should be drawn at 1:1 scale with dimensions in inches.
What is the minimum and maximum size you can laser cut?
Our laser cutting bed accommodates sheets up to 5' x 10' (60" x 120"). For minimum feature size, we can cut details as small as the material thickness (e.g., 0.050" features in 16-gauge steel). The minimum recommended hole diameter is 1.5x the material thickness. For projects requiring pieces larger than our bed size, we can splice panels together with precision welding.
How fast is the turnaround for laser cutting projects?
Standard turnaround is 3-5 business days for most projects. Simple jobs with readily available materials can often be completed in 1-2 days. Large production runs may require 1-2 weeks depending on quantity and complexity. We also offer rush services for urgent projects -- just let us know your deadline and we'll do our best to accommodate it. Contact us at (917) 807-9922 for expedited quotes.
Is there a minimum order quantity for laser cutting?
No minimum order quantity is required. We welcome single-piece prototypes, small batches, and large production runs equally. Our setup process is efficient enough that even one-off pieces are cost-effective. That said, per-piece pricing does decrease with higher quantities due to economies of scale in setup time and material utilization.
Can you provide additional services after laser cutting?
Yes, we offer a full range of secondary services including bending, welding, drilling, tapping, deburring, grinding, powder coating, painting, and assembly. Many clients take advantage of our complete fabrication capabilities to receive finished parts ready for installation. This one-stop-shop approach saves time, reduces shipping costs, and ensures consistent quality throughout the entire manufacturing process.
